Intensive Care Unit Outcome Prediction by Using APACHE II Score

Abstract
It is necessary for prediction of critically illed patients¢¥ prognosis and to classify them in accurate and general The classification depends on severity of their diseased condition.
APACHE(Acute Physiologiy And Chronic Health Evaluation), a scoring classification system of diseases, provides us with the prognosis of the patients according to the physiologic measurement of 34 items. In APACHE II, the items of physiologic measurement reduced to 12 in number.
We evaluated the APS scores of patients within 12 hours of admission to ICU using APACHE II.
The results are as follows.
1) Mean age is 47.7. 17.4 years and ranged from 46 to 55 years account for 21.5%(n= 72).
2) It was the highest mortality rate in patients who were admitted over 9 days 3) Overall mortality rate is 13.7%(of 335 patients, 46), postoperative patient( group is 4,3%, but non- operative patient group, 25.5%
4) The relationship between APACHE II score and mortality rate is best relation on oncolgy department and least relation on neurology department.
